Tree Removal Nottingham

As experienced tree surgeons in Nottingham , tree removal is always our last resort.

Before recommending removal, we assess every tree carefully on site. We only advise taking a tree down when it is genuinely necessary and no other course of action will adequately address the problem.

Reasons For Tree Removal

There are several situations where removal becomes the right decision. The most common reasons we are called out include:

Dead or Dying Trees

A dead tree loses structural integrity over time, making it unpredictable and dangerous. Branches and sections of trunk can fall without warning, creating a serious risk to people and property.

Diseased Trees

Some diseases, including ash dieback and certain fungal infections, progress to a point where recovery is no longer possible. Removing the affected tree promptly helps prevent the spread of disease to healthy trees nearby.

Structural Instability

Trees with significant decay at the base, major cracks in the trunk or a heavily unbalanced canopy can become dangerous over time. Where pruning cannot adequately address the risk, removal is the safest solution.

Root Damage

Tree roots can cause serious and progressive damage to driveways, paths, foundations, drainage systems and boundary walls. Where the root system is causing ongoing structural problems that cannot be managed through other means, removal may be the only lasting solution.

Nuisance Trees

Trees that have outgrown their position, are blocking light significantly or are causing problems with neighbouring properties may need to be removed where pruning is no longer a viable option.

Site Clearance

We carry out tree removal as part of wider site clearance projects for developers, builders and landowners, clearing land efficiently ahead of construction or landscaping work.

Straight Felling & Sectional Dismantling

The method we use depends on the size of the tree, its location and what surrounds it.

Where there is sufficient clear space, straight felling brings the whole tree down in a single controlled operation. In gardens, built up areas and anywhere that space is restricted, we use sectional dismantling instead, carefully removing the tree piece by piece from the top down.

Sectional dismantling requires specialist climbing equipment and precise cutting techniques to ensure each section is lowered in a controlled way without causing damage to surrounding structures, fencing, paving or planting.

Tree Preservation Orders / Conservation Areas

Before carrying out any removal, we always check the legal protection status of the tree. Removing a tree covered by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) without consent from the local planning authority is a criminal offence carrying substantial fines.

Trees within designated Conservation Areas are subject to additional controls, and advance notification must be given to the local authority before significant work is carried out.

We handle all of this on your behalf at no additional charge, preparing and submitting the necessary applications and dealing directly with the relevant authority.

After The Tree Is Removed

We clear the site of all timber, brash and green waste on completion. Where a stump remains, we can arrange stump grinding to remove it below ground level, leaving the area ready for turfing, planting or hard landscaping.
